UNITED-NATION, SOCIAL CAPITAL AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. A SYSTEMS APPROACH FOR THE CREATION OF KNOWLEDGE AND LEARNING IN THE GLOBAL ECONOMY

In the globalising learning economy the organizational and institutional changes are essential for the economic development. This paper analyses, from a wide and systematic view, the role of the social capital as an improving factor of economic growth and development. In fact, in a economy based on the capacity of learning and forget of the economic agents, the generation and application of tacit and explicit knowledge, as well as innovation capacity, is clearly linked with the social capital in explaining the sources of economic growth, especially in smaller countries.
