Revista:

Autores:
Dmitri Fujii Olechko

TECHNOLOGY AND SUCCESS IN MEXICO: A PROPOSAL FOR INDUSTRIAL DIVISION
Revista:
10 - 2004
Autores:
Dmitri Fujii Olechko
Resumen:

Recent literature on Mexican industry has emphasized its uneven sectorial development: some sectors have been successful, while the rest remain well behind. Given these circumstances, the present paper proposes a particular division for Mexican industry in High-Tech and Low-Tech sectors. This division is based on technological and structural variables for two different samples of the nineties and verified for statistical robustness using the discriminant analysis technique.

Resumen:
The transformations imposed by globalization have restored the academic interest for long-run economic dynamics since the nineties of the twentieth century. On the one hand, belonging to mainstream economics, researchers within the “growth theory” are insisting on the analysis of convergence processes across the world economy. And, on the other hand, following a multidisciplinary approach and generally denying the existence of convergence, researchers
