XXIV World Economy Meeting at the University of Seville

On May 27 and 28, 2024, the University of Seville was the venue for the XXIV World Economy Meeting, organized by the World Economics Society. This year, the event focused on “The world economy facing new technological and social challenges.”

The opening session was led by Enrique Fernández-Macías, from the Employment and Skills Team of the Joint Research Center of the European Union, who presented the conference entitled “Technological change and employment in the digital age.”

On May 28, a round table was held on “Technological change: social and economic impacts on the world economy,” which included the participation of leading experts: Dr. José Cuesta (World Bank), Dr. Nacho Álvarez (Autonomous University of Madrid), Dr. Adoración Mozas (University of Jaén) and Dr. Isidoro Romero (University of Seville).

The Ordinary Assembly of SEM Members was then held in the Salón de Grados.

The day on May 27th concluded with a gala dinner at the Iguana Terraza restaurant, next to the Aquarium, at 9:30 p.m. During the dinner, the prestigious José Luis Sampedro award was presented. Before the dinner, attendees had the opportunity to enjoy a guided tour of the Royal Alcazar of Seville.
