Elections for the SEM Board of Directors are hereby called, with the following schedule:
- From April 17 to 27, 2026:
Submission of nominations. Nominations for the renewal of the SEM Board of Directors must be submitted to the two General Secretaries by email to: Ángeles Sánchez Díez (angeles.ssanchez@uam.es) and Eduardo Bidaruratzaga (eduardo.bidaurratzaga@ehu.eus), with a copy to the SEM’s institutional email address (worldeconomysociety@gmail.com).
Composition. Nominations will be comprised of members and societies who, if elected, would form part of the Board of Directors. They must explicitly indicate who the proposed members are for each of the positions on the Standing Committee: one President, two Vice-Presidents, two General Secretaries, two Technical Secretaries, and one Treasurer.
Electoral Roll: The provisional electoral roll will be published, and a period of 10 calendar days will be opened for submitting objections to the General Secretaries of the SEM. - The provisional list of candidates will be published on May 4, with a 5-day period for submitting objections (until May 10).
The final list of candidates and the electoral roll will be published on May 12. - The campaign will take place from May 12 to 18. Candidates who wish to do so may request the email and postal addresses of members from the SEM Technical Secretariats in order to send them the documentation with which they wish to publicize their proposals or electoral programs.
- The elections will be held at the University of Jaén on May 19, 2026. An electoral board will be formed, consisting of three members in good standing, chosen by lottery from among those present (excluding those who are candidates).
Notes of interest:
Voting: Candidacies will be put to a vote by the members attending the General Assembly.
Proxy: Members who cannot attend the Assembly may delegate their vote. To do so, they must present a signed authorization (handwritten or digital) expressly indicating the date of the Assembly, accompanied by a copy of the ID of the person delegating the vote.
Electoral Commission: To resolve any potential conflicts, the General Assembly will appoint an Electoral Commission composed of three members and the General Secretary. The latter will participate with voice but without vote.
